The International Sports Press Association (AIPS) was founded on July 2, 1924. Today it unites sports journalists’ federations, associations, and unions from approximately two hundred countries worldwide.
Since 1995, by decision of AIPS, July 2 has been officially recognized as International Sports Journalists Day, celebrated annually.
In 2024 AIPS marked its 100th anniversary with all events throughout the year dedicated to this significant milestone.
Kazakhstan became a member of AIPS in 1993, initially establishing the “Association of Sports Publications of Kazakhstan.” The organization was founded by the renowned sports journalist, writer, and public figure Nesip Zhunisbayuly.
Over time, adapting to changing circumstances, the organization underwent several transformations. It was initially restructured as “Association of Sports Publications of Kazakhstan” LLP aligning with contemporary requirements.
In 2013 Nesip Zhunisbayuly, demonstrating his commitment to fostering young talent, transferred the presidency to Ilyas Omarov.
In 2021 esponding to the evolving needs of the industry the organization once again changed its legal status and was rebranded as the “Federation of Sports Publications” Public Foundation.
