Kazakhstan ended 2025 Asian Winter Games with 20 medals

The IX Asian Winter Games came to a close in Harbin, China. Over 1,000 athletes from 34 different Asian countries participated in the event. This year, Kazakhstan's national team earned 4 gold medals, 9 silver medals, and 7 bronze medals, placing fourth in the team standings.

 

A total of 137 Kazakhstan athletes competed in the Asian Winter Games in 10 different disciplines across six sports.

Gold medals went to Vladislav Kireev for his performance in biathlon (singles), as well as the freestyle acrobatic team, the short-track team, and the men's ice hockey squad.

The second place in Harbin was taken by Evgeny Koshkin (sports skater), the women's and mixed team of Kazakhstan in short track, Kazakhstani hockey players, skier Konstantin Bortsov, the women's national cross-country skiing team, biathlete Vadim Kurales, the men's biathlon team and freestyle skiers in the competition among mixed teams.

The bronze medals were awarded to the women's speed skating team, Olzhas Klimin (cross-country skiing), figure skater Mikhail Shaidorov, the Kazakhstan men's cross-country skiing team, Ayana Zholdas (freestyle acrobatics), the women's freestyle acrobatics team in synchronized jumps, and biathletes in the relay.

On the final day of the competition, the national men's hockey team claimed gold. The President of the National Olympic Committee, Gennady Golovkin, congratulated the team and summarized the results of the Asian Games.

"Congratulations to the men's team of Kazakhstan and their coaching staff on winning gold at the Asian Games in Harbin!" said Golovkin. "I personally attended all of your games and saw how dedicated you are every time you step onto the ice, playing as a united team. Once again, you have proven that you are leaders in Asian hockey. All of Kazakhstan is proud of you, and thanks for bringing us joy on the final day of Asian Games 2025."

The next Asian Games will be held in Saudi Arabia in 2029.
